Positive Behaviour Management Policy

In the early years, all behavior is a form of communication. At Al Nahda Nursery Group, we prioritize emotional co-regulation and proactive guidance over punitive discipline:

• Praise & Encouragement: Recognizing and celebrating acts of sharing, kindness, persistence, and positive social interaction.
• Clear & Predictable Routines: Visual timetables and smooth song-based transitions reduce toddler anxiety and set developmentally appropriate expectations.
• Emotional Literacy: Staff actively model respectful language and support children in naming their emotions (happy, sad, frustrated, tired) using feelings picture cards and calm storytelling.

All educators and caregivers sign the Staff Declaration & Acknowledgement Form (Annex G1) agreeing to uphold this standard without exception.

When young children experience emotional overwhelm, frustration, or conflict, staff use constructive calming techniques:

• Calm Spaces / Cozy Corners: Safe, comfortable areas equipped with sensory bottles, soft cushions, and soothing picture books where a child can self-regulate under reassuring adult presence.
• Gentle Redirection: Guiding the child towards alternative engaging play activities to de-escalate tension.
• Biting & Conflict Protocols: Responding calmly to biting or hitting incidents, providing immediate comfort to the affected child, teaching gentle boundaries, and documenting the incident for parental consultation without identifying other children.
